Hello world

Ok guys. So this blog chronicles my adventures rock climbing and road biking.

Part of the purpose of throwing things up here is so I can record my goals that I am aiming for.

For cycling my goals are easy. In utah they have this ride called the "Ultimate Challenge" you get to ride the queen stage of the tour of Utah.

Last year I attempted the ride and bonked hard. strava of the ride.

This year the rules seem a little stricter as well. You start at 6:15 AM instead of 6:00 AM and there is a hard 2:00 PM cutoff to finish. Laster year I stopped at 1:30 PM and probably had at least another two hours of riding so I need to up my game.

I got a power meter recently(Yay! Stages) so I have figured out my FTP(235 watts) and I have used best bike split to figure out the weight and power I need to sustain to finish within the 7:45 allowed time.

I think I need to drop to 170 lbs from 180 and I also need to increase my FTP from 235 watts to 265 watts. If I can nail nutrition and everything else that should let me squeak in.

I have a few guys at work who will ride it with me and I have several road races planned out that should help me get there.
